Definition: computational photography

Using algorithms to generate fine detail in a photo. Computational photography is used in smartphone cameras to improve the quality of photos; however, nothing can compare to the results of a professional camera with lenses that can be at least 10 times the size of a phone camera lens. The larger lens allows more light to enter the sensor. In addition, the sensor for each pixel in professional cameras is considerably larger than phone camera sensors.
